Below you can find information on test results in our Reception, Year 1 Phonics Screening and Year 2 National Curriculum Tests. We are pleased that these results reflect real progress from starting points with the pupils who we have had for the greatest percentage of their school life.

YEAR 1 PHONICS SCREENING CHECK AND YEAR 2 PHONICS RE-TAKE
We are pleased that from a Reception baseline of just 34% of pupils at Age Related Expectations our children have achieved results with a minimal difference to National averages. This is as a result of our Read Write Inc. Phonics work and a renewed focus on our reading skills in EYFS, Y1 and Year 2.
Our Year 2 children have closed the gap significantly. By the end of Year 2 93% of all pupils eligible to take the Phonics Screening test had achieved the pass mark.

YEAR 2 NATIONAL CURRICULUM TEST RESULTS
Our Year 2 children had experienced some disruption when they were part of The Welldon Park Academy, as such they were significantly behind expected start points at the end of Year 1 with data showing that less than 50% of pupils were on track to achieve the expected standard. However, with the formation of an experienced Year 2 Team of staff the gap between data and expected standards did decrease significantly. We are working to ensure that after the first full year of academisation we continue to improve the progress rates of learners in Key Stage one.

The Welldon Park Academy was formed on the 1st March 2019 at the end of a challenging period for the school. Below you will find details of the Year 6 May 2019 National Curriculum Test results, however these results should be taken in the context of our changing circumstances.
We look forward to presenting new Year 6 National Curriculum Test results at the end of our first full year of academy operation.
The children who took the National Curriculum Tests just two months after academisation had experienced significant disruption in the prior four years of education at The Welldon Park Primary School. The academy saw that the core moral purpose for our work with the Year 6 cohort of 2019 was that they were ready, socially and mentally for secondary school. We are extremely proud of the progress pupils made as young people. There was a significant number of new to school and new to English pupils in the year group and perhaps worst of all, when part of Welldon Park Primary School there was as many as 30 teachers taking the classes within one year.
