Is The Welldon Park Academy open?

Yes we are open!
However, there may be times a Class Bubble will need to self isolate so REMOTE LEARNING will still happen.
The Government has asked all schools and academies to clarify our offer of Remote Learning.  This is The Welldon Park Academy's provision:

Here are the key details:

  1. From Monday 8th January 2021, schools and colleges can reopen.
  2. The Welldon Park Academy will also run sports clubs after school.
  3. The next change is planned for 29th March which will ease some restrictions
  4. If all the measures and steps work, normality will resume from 21st June 2021

We managed incredibly well as a community before we MUST maintain the same high expectations in keeping each other safe again this half term.

Here is our parent/carer video guide
Here is our video guide for children.

MINIMISE RISK - to remind us all and in addition, we will further minimise risks by:

  1. Further reducing visitors on site unless essential – parent/carer meetings by phone or by ZOOM only.  You always email the school : office@welldonparkprimary.harrow.sch.uk
  2. Unless medically exempt, we ask ALL ADULTS to wear a FACE COVERING when they enter our site
  3. OUR STAFF will WEAR a FACE COVERING at start/end of day BEFORE any PARENT/CARER speaks to them – please wait for them to put it on before speaking with them.
  4. ALL OUR STAFF will continue to wear FACE COVERINGS in and around the school when outside their class/office Bubble (Some staff may also wear them in their bubble)
  5. When you collect your children at the end of the day, you MUST KEEP THEM WITH YOU and not allow them to mix with other children/adults
  6. We maintain the focus on HANDS (washing hands for 20 seconds or using sanitising gel), FACE (adults covering whenever possible) and SPACE (keeping that 2m gap between us)
  7. Be on time!  Stick to the timings given.
  8. Classrooms will continue to be well ventilated.  Ensure your child is wearing full school uniform and an extra vest/t-shirt underlayer to keep warm.  On their TWO PE days they wear PE Kit to school all day.

KNOW SYMPTOMS – we must do the right thing if ANY of our household has symptoms:

  1. You MUST NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL if they have ANY 1 of the following symptoms:
    1. a high temperature – this means they feel hot to touch on the chest or back if you do not have a thermometer
    2. a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
    3. a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normalhttps://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/coronavirus-in-children/
  2. If your child has any of these symptoms, you MUST PHONE US and inform us.  Then they should get a TEST in the first 8 days of having symptoms (https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test ) .
  3. YOU, YOUR CHILD AND ANYONE ELSE YOU LIVE with should stay at home and not have visitors until you get the test result – only leave your home to have the test. Anyone in your support bubble should also stay at home if your child has been in close contact with them since their symptoms started or during the 48 hours before they started.
  4. IF YOUR CHILD (or anyone in your household) has symptoms or is tested positive for COVID, they must self-isolate for at least 10 days and everyone in the household should self-isolate for 10 AYS

We are continuing to develop blended learning (online).  We have distributed over 70  devices for families who have requested support with a laptop/ internet access.  We were awaiting further deliveries but have been informed this is likely to be delayed now.

If your child is struggling to access their Google Classroom account, email or call us immediately.

Our thoughts go to families who may have experienced a bereavement and please let us know so we can support you and your child at this difficult time.

Similarly, we know many families were looking forward to Eid celebrations and other festivals.  It is so important we all stick to the new rules to enable us all to support our NHS but slowing down the rate of infection.  This truly is a community effort and we all need to do our bit for each other.

There is a lot to take in.

There is a lot to remember.

The way we can do this together is to remind each other, ask when we are unsure and not assume or take risks.  We want to protect your children and families, our staff and their families and our community and nation.  We did it before and we can do it again, together.

If you have any thoughts or questions or concerns, remember you can email:

You can also email me directly.

Many, many thanks for your support in advance at this challenging time, and feel reassured that all the staff at The Welldon Park Academy are totally committed to keeping your child safe, happy, learning, playing but above all else, comforted through these times.
